Aegon so dearly loved to be outside. This was where he was most comfortable. This was where he could breathe easier knowing that even if he somehow managed to get angry, that he wouldn’t be likely to hurt anyone out here. It was his greatest fear, the rush of anger that he could hardly control and the beast that would tear free from his flesh. The curse had hit him hard not only physically but mentally as well. He used to have better control over himself. He used to be able to see something that made him angry and tamp down on the rage.

No more. Now he found that he was incapable of even the slightest bit of control before he flew off the handle. The problem with that his handle had now turned into a leash and if he could not hold it, then really who could? Sighing, he turned his head towards the breeze and ran a hand softly over the coat of the aged horse he had road here. The forest was away from them, he was able to linger here for a few moments before he had to return. There were things to do back at the camp, but for now he wanted peace.

Serenity was rare in times like this. He had to get everyone food. He had to organize the younger ones so that they were trained as good pickpockets and didn’t end up… Well like the others. He had left for a while, had been a guard of the highest order until he finally returned here. This was where he belonged. Yes he appreciated the honor and stability being a guard had done but… Well. As he always told them, there was nothing more important than family. And they didn’t have any family without each other.

Positively beastly.

The hog squealed, kicking dirt and turning tail as it dashed away from Sedar but it was already too late. The arrow from his bow hand sunk between his shoulder blades and directly into his heart. The bristly creature only made it a few more bounds before it smashed to the ground, little legs flailing in its death throes as its compatriots scattered into the brush.

He straightened up from where he was crouched, watching the boar until it was still before he decided to finally approach it. Spring meant that all the animals were out and about. Distracted by the new plentiful food and need to reproduce, Sedar was able to remain hidden on the hog’s usual rooting grounds until an appropriate opportunity for a shot was revealed.

Sed checked the boar’s mouth, examining the three inch long tusks and overall feeling quite pleased with himself. There was going to be pork for dinner for himself, his mother, and the others that worked at the farm. It was a good sized critter, large enough to provide decent meals for everyone but not so large that it was impossible to drag away once killed. Retrieving his arrow slinging his bow over his back, Sedar hefted the limp body up onto his shoulder and tramped through the forest until he emerged into a clearing. Being a large man this was not terribly difficult.

A horse and rider were there. Sed froze, eyes flickering up and down over the man, unsure of who he was or what he was doing here, and said nothing.

Sedar was a quiet man, and sometimes accidentally terribly rude. Just like his mom, but that was for an entirely different reason.

The sun stroke against Aegon’s face, though his beard certainly impeded its journey. He couldn’t remember a time when he had heard nothing but silence. His family, though largely spread out, always managed to be loud. They were a happy lot that was for sure. And most of the time Aegon didn’t mind the sound of laughter ringing loudly in his ears.

But there was a time and a place for that, just as there was a time and a place for silence. That was what he had been searching for in his journey. Foolishly, it had taken him nearly a day’s ride to get that silence. He probably hadn’t needed to go that far. The green rolls of hills and dales had called to him though. After such a long winter, it was good to be outside and away from anything that would anger him.

The silence was disturbed by the sound of branches breaking though. Aegon had noticed after the curse that he had managed to retain a few little bits and pieces from the beastly side of himself. It likely could be that he was never that far from a quick change, but he preferred not to linger upon thoughts like that. They always managed to make him a bit more angry, and just a bit was enough to send him over the edge.

Seeing that the man was carrying a heavy burden, Aegon was quick to slide off of his horse. “Greetings!” he shouted, waving a hand above his head as though the man could not see him. “Quiet the heavy load there!”

The man dismounted. Sedar’s body made a small turn to the side, pointing the shoulder that was boarless in the rider’s direction. It appeared he was shielding his catch as if he thought the man just might charge and attempt to take it away from him. People were confused and desperate these days, a freshly killed pig was more than appealing.

The waving and the friendly greeting seemed innocent enough though. He tried to relax.

“Aye,” Sed answered, but quickly steered the topic away from his catch. “Are you lost? I don’t think I’ve seen your face in this part before. I can give you direction if that's what you need.”

Aegon shook his head at the question, his hand placed gently against the side of his aging horse. “No, just don’t come out to these parts often. I’m more seeking a few moments of quiet from my family.” No need to mention that his family was some twenty odd people that made their living on little more than lying and stealing from others.

He pointed towards the boar that the man hand flung over his shoulder. “I’ll offer my horse for you, if you need it. The beast can carry your burden well enough.

Sedar didn’t know what it was like to have to run away from your family in order to gain peace and quiet. The Thack household was mostly quiet, except for the few times his mother absolutely had to open her mouth to speak. Even then, his mother’s screaming was at this point so commonplace to him any more that screaming almost felt like quiet family life these days.

“Is your family large?” he asked. The offer to help him carry his heavy load back home clearly caught him off guard. “Oh. That’s— very kind of you. My home is up the road from here, not too far.”

He slung the pig over the horse’s saddle, careful to not spook the unfamiliar animal too much with the heavy load. “As long as your beast doesn’t mind.”

Naynay would have bucked the whole way home.
